Both passed. | Records kept to a national standard are easier to share with your consent between the systems that care for you, instead of being locked in one app. | The interoperability results are listed in My Wellness Health's DHA registry entry. | Ask your provider which systems they share records with and how consent works. |

## Kenya's health information exchange: your questions answered

**Q: What is FHIR?**

A: Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, an international standard for exchanging health records between systems.

**Q: Why does interoperability matter to me?**

A: It means your information can move between certified systems in a standard format, which supports portable personal health records, one of the aims set out in the Digital Health Act.

**Q: Does this mean anyone can see my records?**

A: No. The Act sets rules on disclosure and consent for health data. Exchange happens between authorised systems under those rules.

**Q: Did My Wellness Health pass the interoperability tests?**

A: Yes. DHA's assessment lists Kenya Health Information Exchange integration and FHIR standards compliance as passed.
