## How endometriosis is diagnosed: scans, laparoscopy and what to expect: your questions answered

**Q: Step: A conversation and examination**

A: A clinician asks about your symptoms and may examine your pelvis.

**Q: Step: An ultrasound scan**

A: Imaging can show some endometriosis, such as cysts on the ovaries.

**Q: Step: An MRI scan**

A: Sometimes used to look in more detail.

**Q: Step: A laparoscopy**

A: A camera passed through a small cut in the tummy is the way to confirm it, and tissue can be removed at the same time.

**Q: Can a normal scan rule it out?**

A: No. Ultrasound can show some endometriosis, such as cysts on the ovaries, but a normal scan does not rule it out.

**Q: What should I bring to my appointment?**

A: A diary of your periods and pain: when it happens, how bad it is, what helps, and how it affects work, study and sex.

**Q: How can My Wellness Health help?**

A: There is no single test to request online, so the Pro package (KES 1,000) includes a doctor consultation before and after your check-up to talk through your symptoms, and a care navigator books a gynaecologist or scan where you need one. A care navigator calls you back within 2 hours (Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm) to book what you need at a facility that suits your budget and location.
